Describing
itself as the ultimate insta-glow palette, the beauty guru, Huda Kattan, has
been teasing us with these highlighters for weeks. Her fans have been eagerly
waiting and now it is finally available in the UK and with a price tag of £40,
(ouch!). So, is it worth the hype????
Kattan, has
created two palettes, the Pink Edition and the Golden Sands edition. Each containing 4 beautiful colours. The pink
palette is suited for those of fair to medium skin and the gold, for those that
are olive to dark skin. I ordered the Golden Sands edition, from Cult Beauty.

Each colour has
been inspired by the beaches of Europe and the Tropics. The palette itself has
3 cream shades and one powder. The cream shades have a buttery formula and when
applied have a pearlescent effect.
The highlight
comes with instructions, written inside the palette, strategically placed right
over the shades.
( Golden Sands Edition)
There are 4
simple steps to follow; Prep, Set. Sculpt and Flush. Prep with the cream
highlight and then Set with the powder highlight. Sculpt, i.e. contour with the
bronzer and flush, i.e. blush with the pink shade. All the colours are
shimmery.
In the Golden
Sands Palette, the cream highlight called Fiji and is amplified when you apply Seychelles
over it. The bronzer is called Tahiti. On my skin tone, I cannot use Tahiti on
its own as it is not dark enough. I tend to use it over my matte bronzer. The
pink blush, Zanzbar, has gold in it and again shimmery. Again, like my
bronzers, I like my blush matte and I use Zanzbar over it, just to give it a
little extra amp!
Each colour can
be used on their own and have multi-use. For example, you can use the pink
colour has a highlight and the bronzer can be used to give your body/décolletage
a tropical tan effect. Fiji and Seychelles again, can be used anywhere on your
body to give it that summer glow.
Because the
cream formulas are shimmery, you will find that up-close that they latch on to
your imperfections, not giving a smooth finish. However, from a far and in
photos, it gives a beautiful 3D glow to your face; making it insta friendly!
So, is the Huda
Beauty 3D highlight palette worth the hype?
I’m afraid not. Although you do
get a lot of product, (4 different shades), the colours are too shimmery for my
liking.
I think
the palette would work better if the bronzer and the blusher were matte. I feel
that because all the colours are shimmery, there is a danger that the contour,
highlight and blush, all together would look like a block of shimmer on your
cheeks.
In my
opinion, if you want to add some dimension to your face then the contour colour
must be matte. When it comes to blusher, it is
a personal preference. I like my blushers matte, as it gives a smooth
finish. By adding a highlight; be it shimmery or dewey, this will give your
face the illusion of a 3D effect.
If you suffer
from dry skin or large pores, the shimmer in the palette will emphasis these.
Instead, I would recommend the MAC Cosmetic Cream Colour base, as it gives a
smooth dewey finish.
