On Thursday 11th May, I went to Selfridges The
Home of Beauty Event. It promised an
evening of indulgent discoveries and exclusive beauty experiences and
makeovers. Major brands, such as Tom Ford, Charlotte Tilbury, Crème De Le Mer
and many more all took part in the evening. So, was it a night to remember???
Read on to find out….
The evening had a wonderful buzz to it with a D.J playing
and; dubbed as the Roaming Selfridges Tea Party - drop dead gorgeous men walking around
offering cocktail/matcha green teas.
In the beauty Hall, there were many Beauty Workshops set up
offering experiences such as manicures, massages and makeup and skin care
consultations.
I first headed off to Tom Ford to see what they were
offering. I was approached by this tall beautiful woman. She was very
accommodating and asked how she could help me. Her eye makeup was so captivating
and elegant I had to ask her to recreate to look on me! I also queried about
their foundation and their ranges. Amarpreet, the beauty adviser, went through
what kind of foundations I preferred, and suggested that the traceless
foundation would work best.
What I liked about this experience was that Amarpreet took
her time with me and explaining every product she used and advised on how to
apply each product. At no point did I feel rushed or that I was inconveniencing
her. She gave me a full make over and a face chart with all the products she
has used, and gave me a goody bag with samples in it! (I got a sample of the
illuminating primer and lipstick in Indian Rose). I purchased the Traceless
foundation in the colour Sable and eye cream colour in Spice.
With my purchases and my Tom Ford goody bag, I then headed
off to Christian Louboutin Beaute. There,
they were offering a lip makeover to celebrate the launch of their Metalinnudes
Collection. I was in awe on how beautiful their counter was! Decked out in
white and gold, it had opulence written all over it!
I chose to have the Loubilaque Lip Lacquer in Bronzissima applied
on me. The beauty artist, first applied a gorgeous nude lip liner, in Lip
Definer Maya all over my lips and then applied the gloss. My lips were beaming!
But unfortunately, like all glosses it did not last long ☹.
However, on the upside, I was given a 5ml fragrance miniature in Bikini Questa
Sera parfum.
As a regular user of Crème De La Mer, I made a B-line to
their counter to see what they had in store! If they had anything which they
were giving away for free, I was absolutely going to take advantage of that!!!
There I was given a warm welcome and the lady had offered to
give me a mini consultation. When I sat down, I could not take my eyes of the
large tub of Crème De La Mer covered in Swarovski crystals! I want one!!!!
I was curious about their soft fluid long wear foundation;
having heard good reviews about it. We first talked about the products they had
and what I have! And then she matched me up. When she applied the foundation, I
was astounded on how well it blended! I couldn’t even tell where she had
applied it! The foundation was seamless. A good choice for those that want that
makeup, no makeup look. I am in the
colour 31 Blush. Kindly, the lady gave me a sample of this and their perfecting
treatment primer. I was over the moon!
I took a detour to Yves Saint Laurent and tried out the new
Touche Eclat Glow Shot. This is a cream highlighter (03 Sunset) that can be
directly applied to your skin. When applied, it gives off a natural dewey glow!
Perfect for that sun kissed look.
I also tried out the Baby Doll Kiss & Blush. I already
have few of these and when the beauty adviser suggested I try this bright pinky
coral colour (18 Rose Provocant), I did raise my eyebrows, thinking that he was
going to make me look like a clown! I did not look like a clown! When applied
to the apples of my cheeks it gave me a fresh youthful look! So, I bought the Touche
Eclat Glow Shot in 03 Sunset and Baby Doll Kiss & Blush in 18 Rose
Provocant.
The evening also offered other experiences and makeovers.
Bobbi Brown was offering How-To’s, eye makeovers with Eyeko, quick tricks with
Charlotte Tilbury, hand massage by Jo Malone and many, many more.
There was also a Beauty Social corner, where I had the
opportunity to meet Selfridges Beauty Insider Rose Gallagher and other fellow
beauty lovers to discuss our purchases and what we thought of the latest beauty
trends.
Overall I had a wonderful evening at the Selfridges Home of
Beauty event. To top it off, I was given a gift bag filled with goodies!!! The
icing on the cake was when I meant, The YouTube/Instagram sensation, The Plastic
Boy (Gary Thompson) himself!!!
When I had opened it at home, I could not believe what I had
received! Mini beauty blender, Clarins eye-shadow palette, mascaras by Eyeko and
Trish McEvoy, Prada perfume and many more items!
The evening had a wonderful buzz to it and it was very
relaxed. Although there were people there, it wasn’t overly crowded like
Selfridges usually is. The staff there were very helpful and took their time to
speak to you and were more than willing to give you makeovers and allowed you
to try on more products. They also offered samples and were much more relaxed.
Understandably, I do understand that when it is super packed, it can be more
difficult to offer a standard of customer service you want to deliver. Having
worked in retail myself, I understand that you can easily help a
client/customer more, when you know you have got more time to spend on them and
aren’t bombarded with millions of other people!
So, was the event worth it and would I go again? Most
defiantly YES!!! It was a wonderful evening and a beauty addicts galore! Reviews
on the products I received and purchased will be posted soon….
