Primmark is on everyone’s lips. Why so? Well not only are they known for their purse friendly fashion, but now have they are taking a stand in the beauty market.
Within their beauty
umbrella, they have introduced their premium Q10 range, consisting of following
4 easy steps to achieve that fresh face! The concept behind this mini beauty regime,
is to introduce a no fuss method to giving your skin that oomph! In the Q10
range, you have a roller eye gel, serum and Day and Night Cream packed with
super ingredients! The icing on the cake is that the range won’t blow a hole in
your budget, costing you no more than £4 a pop!
Step One: Roller Eye Gel
(Courtesy of Brand)
The Uplifting
Eye Gel is packed with Green Tea and Guarana; to sooth your tired eyes and
reduce puffiness. The applicator has a
small silver ball at the top of the tube and the idea is to roll the product,
whist giving it a little squeeze to release the gel around the eye area.
When applying,
it does give your eyes that cooling effect you will need when you have been
suffering from late nights/ poor sleep or general fatigue. The downside, however,
is that the silver ball doesn’t always roll and you can feel the plastic edges
around the silver ball dragging on your eye area, giving you slight discomfort.
Instead, what I
do is that I squeeze the gel out and pat the gel with my fingers, around the eye
contour and then go over it with a silver ball applicator to give it at cooling
effect.
(This is the applicator I use)
Green Tea and
Guarana are both ingredients that contain cafeeine. With Guarana, it is widely
written that the components of this fruit fight fatigue and is anti-aging, as
it ‘wakes up your skin’. Similarly, with Green Tea, the ingredient is meant to
sooth the eyes and tighten the skin.
Having used
this product for a couple of weeks, it did sooth and cool my eyes, but did it
reduce my dark circles? No, it did not.
Step Two: Anti-Ageing Serum
(Courtesy of Brand)
Like most
anti-ageing products, serums are notoriously expensive. This serum however, will
cost only you £4! Containing Kakudu plum extract, this fruit is reported to
have the highest source of Vitamin C; giving your skin radiance and rejuvenation.
The bottle
contains 50ml of the serum and has a pump to release the product. It is easy to
use and the serum is a white/transparent gel like consistency. You will find
that one pump is enough for your entire face.
So how does
Vitamin C help your skin? Dubbed as an anti-ageing superstar by beauty experts,
the ingredient is reported to brighten and smooth out your skin tone and
provide it hydration.
For 50ml you do
get a lot for your money. Having used the serum as part of my morning beauty regime;
the serum does give your skin that extra hydration it needs when it is thirsty.
The serum leaves a smooth matte finish, leaving your face prepped for the next
step.....
Step Three: Day Cream
(Courtesy of Brand)
The Day Cream proclaims
to diminish fine lines and winkles. It contains SPF15 and Hyaluronic Acid and
comes in a 50ml jar.
Again, with a
50ml jar and at £4, you get a cream containing top quality ingredients that you
will find in high end premium face creams.
Hyaluronic Acid
is another buzz word in the beauty industry. Proclaiming to give instant
hydration to your face, it is reported to make your skin look firmer and
‘plump’ your skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles?
So does it
work? The cream has a soft light weight consistency and on application, it does
leave a white residue. I suspect this is
the SPF, but it easily disappears when you apply the cream in a circular
motion. The day cream has no offensive smell and absorbs well into the skin. It
does leave my skin moisturised.
But does it
reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles? As I do not have fine lines
or wrinkles, I cannot comment, but one of the main causes of this is dry skin.
The cream does leave your skin moisturised and soft.
Step Four: Night Cream
Primark state
that this 12-hour night cream will keep your skin moist whilst you sleep,
making your skin ready for that fresh face in the morning. Containing complex
Q10, Green Tea and Vitamin E; this night time formula should replenish your
face during your sleep.
So what does
the formula do? Experts state that Q10 regenerates the skin by stimulating your
skins natural cell to help dry skin and loss of collagen by giving your skin
intense moisturization. It helps you skin to smooth out wrinkles.
Vitamin E,
again is another ingredient that helps your skin to replenish, by adding
moisture.
So, does it
work?
The Night Cream has a soft yet dense consistently. It does leave the skin
hydrated but it does not always last 12 hours as it all depends on how my skin
decides to behave!! In some mornings, I
have found my skin to be dry, thirsty for extra hydration! In others, it is
perfectly fine. It’s all down to how your skin takes it on the day.
I’m a firm
believer in that budget skincare regimes can be just as effective as the high
ends ones. When it comes to it, what makes a product worth it is the
ingredients it has. And this PS range has all the hallmarks of a high end
premium skincare product; with elements such as Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C
& E, Q10 and many more, but at a fraction of the price!
Primark is
setting itself up as a serious competitor in the beauty market, but with an
extra sparkle of purse friendly prices. What do I think?? Watch out luxury
brands, Primark is set to take on the beauty world by storm!
